Bhai Kulwant Singh Gumty was born in the Gursikh farming family of Sardar Surjit Singh and from the womb of Mata Gurdev Kaur in December 1963, in the village of Gumty Kalan. Bhai Sahib spent his whole childhood at his home village Gumty Kalan.
Shaheed Bhai Kulwant Singh Gumty was a top Khadku from the village of Gumty Kalan. In 1983 Bhai Sahib went Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Bindranwale and took Amrit from the 5 Beloved Singhs of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and became close to Bhai Amrik Singh. Bhai Sahib was a leading member of All India Sikh Student Federation and also was given the command of All India Sikh Student Federation of Bathinda. Bhai Sahib worked very hard in all actions of the All India Sikh Student Federation and also received the backing of Sikh students across Bathinda. In May 1984 Bhai Sahib was arrested and charged under the National Security Act. The government of Surjit Barnala came into power in Punjab and Bhai Sahib was released as he was under the age of 20.
When Bhai Sahib came out of jail, the police made new accusations against Bhai Sahib of murder and Bhai Sahib decided to go underground. A few days later Bhai Sahib surrounded and arrested by the CRP in Barnala, outside the SD College. Bhai Sahib put up a good fight, throwing the CRP personnel all over the joint until another unit of BSF had arrived and overpowered Bhai Sahib. Whilst in custody of Punjab police, Bhai Sahib was tortured, his thighs were ripped and his nails were pulled out. The police wanted information from him of underground singhs but Bhai Sahib did not satisfy the police at all. Bhai Sahib was being taken to court, when the police had an accident, the police officer was badly injured and asked Bhai Sahib for help. Bhai Sahib like Bhai Khanaiya Ji ripped his shirt and tied it around the wounds of the police officer, later Bhai Sahib drove the police van to the hospital to get the police officer treatment. This was the high character of a true Sikh. If an innocent Sikh was in that state , the Indian police would probably had left that Sikh there to bleed to death.
When Bhai Sahib come out from jail he joined the Khalistan National Army, Bhai Sahib took part in many actions and then later joined the Saffron Tigers of Khalistan. After a short while Bhai Sahib formed his own new group which was called the Liberation Tiger Force of Khalistan. Bhai Sahib announced that no innocent Hindu or fair police officer will be killed. Bhai Sahib organised and also took part in many big actions. The main Khadku Singhs with Bhai Sahib were Bhai Shamsher Singh Shera, Bhai Jadwinder Singh Jadu, Baba Bohar Singh Kahn, Bhai Baldev Singh Majha. Liberation Tiger Force of Khalistan was a small group these were the main people that Bhai Sahib had worked with. Bhai Sahib also was very close with Bhai Gurjant Singh Budhsinghwala, we could say that Liberation Tiger Force of Khalistan was a little break off group of Khalistan Liberation Force Budhsinghwala. Bhai Sahib worked with all the jathebandis, both groups worked together in many actions in including the kidnapping of Liviu Radu, the Romanian diplomat. Liviu Radu was kidnapped in October 1992, the Khadku Singhs of Liberation Tiger Force of Khalistan and Khalistan Liberation Force Budhsinghwala asked the release of Bhai Harjinder Singh Jinda and Bhai Sukhjinder Singh Sukha in return for Liviu Radu.
In one case a police informant also from the village of Gumty was giving information to the police of families that helped the Khadku Singhs, in this case Bhai Sahib. Some Sikh families were helping Bhai Sahib with food, money etc, and the police came to village Gumty and started harassing and torturing families that had helped Bhai Sahib. When Bhai Sahib found out about this informant, he dressed up as a police officer and knocked on the informant's door. When the dog opened his gate, he thought a big police officer had come to ask for information about some more Khadku Singhs from the area but instead it was Bhai Sahib. Bhai Sahib shot the informant in the mouth and killed him instantly. The informant was shot in the mouth because, with that mouth he had got many Sikh families tortured and even killed.
Bhai Sahib was also punished the brutal SSP Sharma of Bathinda, who was known amongst Sikhs in brutally torturing and killing Sikhs. The police feared Bhai Sahib so much, that Bhai Sahib sometimes used to walk into police stations and the police used to provide him with shelter and food.
Bhai Sahib was very dedicated in his panthic sewa, the Liberation Tiger Force of Khalistan might have been small group but was a very dangerous group that worked with Khalistan Liberation Force in many actions.
Bhai Kulwant Singh Gumty attained shaheedi on 14th March 1992, fighting Indian security forces along with his jatha of singhs, after Bhai Sahib had got all of the jatha out of danger his faught the CRP till his last breath. After his martyrdom Bhai Baldev Singh Majha became the chief general of Liberation Tiger Force of Khalistan. After the Shaheedi of Bhai Baldev Singh Majha, Jawed Ahmed alias Baba Bohar Singh Khan of Kaddian became the chief general of Liberation Tiger Force of Khalistan.
When the news reached England that Bhai Kulwant Singh Gumty had attained shaheedi, the Sikh sangat held 11 Sri Akhand Paath Sahibs for Shaheed Bhai Kulwant Singh Gumty.
Shaheed Bhai Kulwant Singh Gumty was a top Khadku Singh, who had gave his life for the Sikh panth, Parnam Shaheeda Nu.
