Thank you Liberty Bhen ji, Good comments.. I am really glad
Bhne ji I told you before that I do not garee with things like "We must not do" but we can do for other sakes.. I think if we must not do it then we must not do it. Sikhs’s Rakha (protector) is only akalpurakh not anybody else. So how can a Sighni have other rakha apart from Akalpurkh. Apart from this it is said that it is (rakhi da teohaar) sign of love between sister and brother, then more than 90% people don’t even know about this rakhi does it mean there is NO love between sister and brother for thoese 90%. I further argue that what about sign of love between sister and sister, brother and brother, mother and son and mother and daughter and son and father, father and daughter, why only sign (celebration of reet like rakhi) is required for relationship of sister and brother.
Rakhi word means rakhsha (protection) so it is definitely for brother to take oath to protect his sister/s . If it is promise or oath, then why it has to be renewed every year? When nowadays even passports and Driver licenses are valid for 20 years? It is not for love or culture that is just being said to justify it and make it rasham of Sikhs and others, Rakhi means protection and it is an oath or promise borther makes to sister/s. which is not sidhant (Fundamentals) of sikhism as in sikhism only protector is God. When it really comes to protect sikhs know how to do that they dont only protect their own sisters but any sister/s, they have done it in past they still do it and they will keep on doing it. Singh does not start thinking wheather this one ties me rakhi or not when the sister has to be protected, He must just do it as that is his dharma/duty.
As per As culture is concerned, Sikh has to be careful if some of these customs/reets/rasams are making you to do things which take you away from reality then you/ Sikhs should not do it. So I think sikhs should not be celebrating this rakhi.. My opinions..
